Cosmetically it may bear similarities to big-budget franchises 'Assassin's Creed' (clambering around intimidating enemy encampments) and 'Batman: Arkham' (a superbly proficient close combat fighting hero), but by daring to innovate on those established franchises and creating a sophisticated, engrossing and evolving society of antagonists, 'Shadow of Mordor' should be populating a panopoly of 2014's Game of the Year retrospectives before very long.
